Factories: Complete Guide!

Factories are an exciting new way to produce premium goods for your businesses, which when used will provide a higher payout. Please see the following guide for everything you need to know about this great new feature. Please note that you have to be at least level 13 before this feature is unlocked.
Click on the icon to see the quest requirements. You will find your new factory in your inventory. Please note that it must be connected to a road (or a sidewalk). You will need 10 energy to build it.

In order to finish construction on your factory you’ll need the right materials!

Ask your friends for the materials you need, which are also available on the free gifts page. Optionally, you may also purchase the required materials using City Cash. *Please note that not everyone will have the same materials on their free gifts page. Once you have finished building your factory you will notice your regular goods bar replaced with a double bar; the top one is for premium goods (you will have 1000 storage for these), the one on the bottom is for regular goods (storage for these will remain the same).

You can also now click on the factory to start producing premium goods. When you click on the factory you will see 5 different jobs to select from; each varying in length and goods produced.

Please keep in mind that your factory can only handle one job at a time, so once you select one you will have to wait until it’s finished before selecting another (similar to trains). Once you have selected a job you will have the option to recruit your friends for help; you will receive bonus premium goods for each friend that responds. Optionally, you can also hire temporary workers using City Cash.

*Note: If you do not invite any friends, or if none of the friends invited respond, you will still receive the minimum goods payout for that job. Please keep in mind that you cannot hire each friend for more than one(1) job per day and that workers hired with City Cash will only be used for that job. Once your premium goods are ready to collect you will see an indicator above your factory; clicking on it will produce premium goods and add them to your premium goods bar.

Now that you have premium goods you can supply your businesses with them to get a higher payout. When you supply businesses your premium goods will be used first, when you run out of those your regular goods will be used instead.
Other Notes :
  • You will still use regular goods when supplying franchises and using trains.
  • When supplying businesses your premium goods will be used first.
  • If you ever delete your factory it will go back into your inventory (if it’s currently producing goods you will see a warning pop-up first). The factory will have to be rebuilt after being deleted.
  • Currently, there is no way to expand storage for premium goods; however, please keep in mind that this is a new feature and future improvements are always possible.
  • Goods from factories will not wither/spoil.
  • Producing premium goods with factories is a great way to get the most out of your businesses!

CityVille and Zynga introduced a pop up today in game that is about Shop Till You Drop! The only hint they give us Mayors is that you can “Show off new wares with CityVille’s latest shops! Coming Soon!” What could this mean? Well some speculations may be new buildings, or some kind of crafting and displaying for neighbors to buy? Only time will tell what the big Z has up their sleeve on this one. Try and stay tuned for all the updates as we find them.

CityVille Valentine's Day mini-game + prizes: Everything you need to know

SHARE THIS POST WITH YOUR FRIENDS

cityville valentines day

In honor of the day of love, CityVille on Facebook has rolled out a new Valentine's Day mini-game, where you create custom virtual cards and send them to friends. Of course, what good is sending cards if you don't get any in return. You'll also collect as many custom V-day cards from your fellow CityVille players, which will give you access to a slew of V-day themed prizes -- all of which, IMHO, are pretty freakin' adorable.

To get started spreading the love around, click on the red heart that's on the right hand side of the game screen. The number in the middle heart shows how many admirers you have (in my case, that's 26) -- more about this soon.

valentines day make card tab

After you click on the heart you will open a pop-up window with three tabs -- Make Card, Your Admirers and Prizes.

The first tab that says 'Make Card' is the card creator, and you will be able to custom create a V-day greeting which you can send to your friends. You have the option of changing the text message at the top, the two characters on the card and the gift in the middle. Once you've come up with your favorite combo, hit 'Send Valentine.'

The friend selector will appear and you can choose the lucky few who will receive your V-day card.

On the 'Your Admirers' tab, you'll see a list of friends who have sent you V-day wishes. Note that you can have several pages of admirers, so you might have to use the left and right arrows to scroll through them all.

From this screen, you can view each of the customized cards by clicking on an admirer's picture. I found this one rather amusing. If you want to be polite, you can hit the 'Share Thanks' button and post a message on your admirer's Facebook Wall that says, well, thanks!

The last tab in the CityVille Valentine's minigame is Prizes. Basically, the more admirers you collect as well as the variety of cards you receive, the more Valentine's Day themed prizes you will be able to call your own. If you don't want to wait until you have all of the admirers/cards you need, you can also buy each item using City Cash. You are also able to ask friends for help with you collection by posting a message to your Facebook wall. Note: Each prize can only be collected once AND you need to be at least level 5 to collect them.

Below is a list of the prizes and what you need to snag 'em all:

As I mentioned before, you can also get prizes based on the types of virtual cards you receive from friends. There are six types of Valentine's Day cards and you can tell which one belong to which category by the icon that appears at the bottom right of the card. The card in the image below is a 'Tough Love' card, denoted by the crab icon. Tough, indeed! Icons for the other cards (as well as the prizes for each card) are listed below.
